As one of the oldest Burlington Preschools, Pearson’s status as a co-op is something that we are very proud of. Our co-op identity is what makes Pearson a preschool that is recommended again and again and why we often have several generations of one family join us!
What is a co-op preschool?
As members of a co-op nursery school, parents have the opportunity to volunteer in the classroom and on field trips. All families are also assigned to a committee at the beginning of the school year. Committee responsibilities may include planning our end of year picnic, writing posts for this blog or making Playdoh for the classrooms.
Heading up each committee is a board member who oversees, directs and liaises with other team members. Board members are volunteers who meet once a month with the preschool director to make sure everything is running smoothly and on budget.
Meet Your 2018/19 Executive Board
In the first general meeting in September, you will have a chance to meet the board members and learn a little more about what they do. The members of the board are all parents with children at Pearson so expect to see us at drop-off and pick-up from time to time!
Chairperson - Olivia Duke
I’m Olivia Duke and I’m thrilled to be the Chairperson for the 2018-2019 school year at Pearson. On behalf of the Executive Board, I’d like to welcome you and your family to Pearson Community Co-operative Nursery School.
I’m proud to say that this will be my family’s fourth year at Pearson, with our youngest, Sienna, joining the RTL program as she prepares for junior kindergarten next year. To say that Pearson has exceeded expectations is a great understatement. The wonderful teachers have truly made the experience so incredibly positive. The supportive, welcoming and educational environment has helped our little ones blossom and we’re so grateful for its offerings. It really is a fantastic community experience filled with many traditions that continue to be exciting year after year.
I’m looking forward to working together with all of the parents of this wonderful community co-op nursery school to make this another fantastic year at Pearson.
First Vice - Megan Siegelberg
My name is Megan Siegelberg and I am excited to be joining the Executive Board at Pearson as the First Vice for the 2018/2019 school year!
My family moved to Burlington from Toronto in January 2017 and my daughter (Jane) started at Pearson in the RTE program at that time. I found out about Pearson using a Google Search and after visiting several Nursery schools I quickly realized that Pearson was the right fit for my family.
Jane had a great experience at Pearson and I enjoyed meeting many new families in the community. My son (Adler) started at Pearson in the 3am program in September 2017 when he was 2 ½ years old.
He will be returning to the 3am program for the 2018/2019 school year. I am extremely impressed with the school, the program, and the support the teachers provided to both the children and parents.
I am an Occupational Therapist who works with children, however after having my son I decided to take a few years off work to stay at home with my children. I am looking forward to another awesome year at Pearson!
Second Vice - Jason Overy
Jason is a stay at home dad to two Pearson kids. Harriett graduated in 2016 and has moved on to a successful first two years of grade school and Findley is excited to spend a second year in the 2AM program.
A former self-employed cabinetmaker, Jason was happy to give up long work weeks and transition into the life of a stay at home father when the family moved to Burlington early in 2015.
Pearson has been a big part of life in Burlington and Jason is looking forward to helping make this year great.
Fundraiser - Kayli Kozlowsky
Hello! My name is Kayli and I am a lifelong resident of Burlington. I have known about Pearson since my younger brother attended over 20 years ago!
The 2018/19 school year will be our second here and my daughter Rian is excited to join the afternoon Ready to Learn program. The families, volunteers and teachers at Pearson have created such an amazing sense of support and community that when the opportunity to become more involved came up, I jumped at the chance!
I look forward to meeting our new and returning families and I invite everyone to say hi and offer any and all suggestions that will help support our school as we move our little ones along through the year.

My twins were the first of our crew to attended Pearson and I had such a positive experience!! I’m happy to be part of such a fun, tight knit school community.

My name is Deaana and I am excited to be joining the Pearson 2018-19 Board as the Membership Secretary. Currently I am a stay-at-home mom to two wonderful children. My daughter Quinn attended Pearson for 2 years (2am and Ready-to-Learn (RTL) programs) and is now off to J.K. My son Lucas will be starting at Pearson this year in the RTL program and we couldn’t be happier!
We found out about Pearson through a friend and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to find such an amazing space topped with such caring and loving teachers. I am looking forward to be able to contribute to the success of Pearson this coming year.
Treasurer - Joe Bosi
Hello! I would like to start out with a big thank you to Pearson Co-Op for all the inspiring work you do for the kids and families of Burlington and surrounding communities. I’d also like to say thank you so much for the opportunity to serve as Treasurer on the board, I’m looking forward to a great year ahead!!
A little bit about me and my family:
My wife Nancy and I (who will be celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary in October) moved to Burlington a little over 2 years ago with our eldest son Ryan who is now 3 1/2 years old, and a proud new student of Pearson beginning in September! More recently, we’re thrilled to welcome another amazing little man Named James who joined us on Jan 22nd 2018. Needless to say, life is busy but these guys make is all worthwhile!! :)
In our spare time, we love the outdoors, hanging with friends and neighbours, travelling, hiking, camping or just relaxing in the backyard. For work, I’m responsible for Advisor Technology at a major financial institution in Toronto, with whom I’ve had had the opportunity to work in several roles during my 15 year tenure. In my spare time, as a huge fan of music, I enjoy composing tunes and playing rhythm guitar in a rock and roll band called The Southdowns.
Hope that gives you a little insight into the life and times of Joe Bosi and Family. When you’re able, come on up and say hi!
All the best and look forward to meeting you! Joe

My daughter Sienna, will be starting at Pearson this fall, following in the footsteps of her older sister, Noelia who will be heading to JK. I’m so excited to be a member of the Pearson board this year and am looking forward to working my committee on marketing the school and letting all the residents of our new neighbourhood know about us.
Next month we will meet our fantastic Pearson teachers and learn some fun facts to share with your kids!
